State by State Breakdown As
in previous years, the latest Cost of Government Day is in Connecticut, with
the average worker toiling all the way until September 17 (twenty nine days
past the national average) to pay off all the costs of government. The dubious
honor of second place is held by New
Jersey, with COGD falling on September 14. New York is right behind it on September 10, with Maryland jumping into
September for the first time at September 4. http://www.fiscalaccountability.org/?content=COGD105
Government Employees Since President
Obama’s inauguration,
one sector has added jobs even as the economy as a whole has continued to
decline: the government. Temporary infrastructure workers, paid for by
the “stimulus” bill, have been hired in droves, only to be let go when their
temporary funds run out. Similarly, the jobless rate artificially
declined with the hiring of almost 600,000 census workers, who were also let go
once their purpose was fulfilled. Permanent government workers, whose generous
benefits packages and salaries put added strain on already overloaded
taxpayers, are still on the rise. http://www.fiscalaccountability.org/?content=COGD1008
